More progress

Another weigh-in this past Friday and 2 more pounds lost! My Fitness Pal has been really phenomenal for me. I can still eat things I ate before I started trying to lose weight, but knowing the calorie count and making better choices, or choices in moderation, is making all the difference.

Case in point: I had a training last Wednesday. On training days when I have to travel, I pretty much have to eat out. This one was an hour away. So, I had to leave around 4:30 to get there by 5:30 to have enough time to set up, etc. eating dinner before I leave really isn't an option. I grabbed some Wendy's, a plain baked potato and a small chili. 480 calories! I was actually UNDER for my calories that day, and I had fast food for dinner. I did it by checking My Fitness Pal before I even went to the drive thru, so I could make an informed choice.

I did it again today, too. I got some Taco Bell for lunch. I was sitting on the couch looking at my iPad after I told Ben I was going to get food. He asked if I changed my mind. I said no, that I was checking the calories in the TB food before I left. I usually eat a minimum of 2 items when I go, but after looking at the calories, holy cow! I chose one that I felt was low enough to not break my calorie budget, but high enough to not leave me still really hungry. I got the nachos supreme. Also, I think looking it up ahead of time and making the decision NOT in front of the drive thru order speaker helps me stick to my order and not get extra stuff like a churro or limeade.

Anyway, I'm really happy about my weight loss. Ben got me Just Dance 4 as an early Valentine's Day gift and it's been super fun. I love actually enjoying my exercise. I've been dancing the last 3 weekends, too. It is such a great workout and tons of fun. Ben danced with me yesterday. He is such a great dancer, even though he doesn't think so. I love sharing that experience with him. Plus, he makes following his lead so natural and effortless, which is not normally natural nor effortless for me. lol

We're considering joining the Y again. I really, really miss swimming and Zumba. All the other Zumba classes I've been to since leaving the Y have been kind of lackluster. I miss my Awesome Zumba Lady. We'll see. It may have to be once Ben is working again. But, I told him that when we have a baby, I WILL need the Y membership, because I want the baby in the water ASAP. If they are exposed to swimming from an early age, their comfort in the water when it comes time to learn swimming strokes will be much more manageable.

I'm going to start measuring myself again. I wanted to wait for a couple of weigh-ins so that I may actually see some progress and not get frustrated when the scale moves and the inches don't. But, I think it's time now. I think what I'm going to do is measure myself every two weigh-ins. I think that's a good interval to really track progress. Here goes nothing.

All right, so this is not easy to say, as I know that it should not have gotten to this point. But, I have always held the opinion that the hardest things to say are the ones that need to be said. So, without further ado, my stats.

I weigh 177 pounds. Yes, that is after the 4 pounds of weight loss since starting the Biggest Loser at work. My initial weigh-in was 181 pounds.
My bust measurement last recorded (October 2011) was 40.5 inches and today it is 42.5 inches.
My tummy measurement at my belly button was 39 inches last recorded (Oct 2011) and is 42 inches today.
My thigh measurement last recorded (Oct 2011) was 24 inches and is 25 inches today.

The reason I'm making it known is because as I was gathering the tape measure, pen and paper to take the measurements, I was telling myself that they were going to be larger than they were the last time I measured. I could not try to fool myself into thinking they would have stayed the same or gotten smaller. It was just not possible. Hell, it was over a year ago. But, I also told myself that whatever they were, they need to be the biggest they will ever be and I need to keep that in mind. So, I'm telling everyone in blog world that these numbers are only going to get smaller.

Biggest loser at the office

My office mates and I have decided to do a biggest loser event for the next 20 weeks. I downloaded My Fitness Pal on my ipad and have been updating it daily. I love how it tells me how I'm doing in terms of calories and exercise. I've been over my daily calories a couple of times, but that will happen. I've also exercised pretty regularly since we started, and I'm hoping it continues. I've been doing the kinect and went out dancing, as well as walked for a few hours around the bridal expo with my sister.

Today was week 1, so we had our first weigh-in. I lost 2 pounds! I was really happy. After a few weeks, I'm going to start measuring circumference, too. I never should have let myself get as heavy as I did, but the only thing I can do now is resolve to fix it. My goal weight loss is 45 pounds. So, 2 down, 43 to go!
