New gym, new zumba

We're going to a new gym and new gym means new zumba. Before I get to that, I want to tangent for a quick second.

So, this new gym has a sign (so I'm told by Ben) asking that sports bras and midriff-baring tank tops not be worn. I assume the sign in question is addressed to women. It sort of made me angry when he told me about it. I mean, do they have a similar policy asking men not to remove their shirts? Is this limited to the fitness rooms, or are they enforcing it with bikinis in the pool?

I have never, I repeat NEVER, been one to willingly roll over to double standards. I may have gritted my teeth and dealt with it, but never willingly. In high school when I did track and field, the field coach told the girls that were had to do girl push-ups, meaning propped on our knees instead of our toes. We were not allowed to do regular push-ups because () why would they create push-ups called "girl push-ups" if girls were not supposed to do them? () Well, I did regular push-ups anyway. Because I could. And because it was a double standard. I told my mom about it later, thinking she would be proud of me for standing up for myself...you know, girl power and everything...she told me that next time I needed to do what my coach told me to do. So much for girl power, huh?

Anyway, I digress. New zumba on Wednesday was pretty darn good, actually. I only lasted 30 minutes because of my feet, but the instructor was good. She did a routine to the Jump in the Line (aka Shake, Shake Senora) from Beetlejuice. I weighed myself and I was at 153. Let's keep it down!!

Then, yesterday I went roller skating with a center on a field trip. Of the 2 hours I skated with them, I'm halfing it again and saying 1 hour. So, 1.5 total hours exercised this week thus far.

Jelly legs

I went to the gym today and really pushed myself on the elliptical. I did 30 minutes with a 5 minute cool down. I did 2.8 miles in that 35 minutes and now my legs are all jelly-y.

I also did 15 minutes on the weight machines. I did 3 sets of 10 at 45 lbs on the lat machine, 3 sets of 10 at 90 lbs on the ab machine and 3 sets of 10 at 45 lbs on the oblique machine.

I weighed myself before exercising and I was at just under 154.5-the scale was really sensitive. 155 was touching the bottom of the leveling box and 154 was touching the top of the leveling box. 154.5 was still a tad heavy, but I didn't feel like going more precise than that. Not great, but I haven't gained. I want to be at LEAST under 150 before the wedding. Maybe? Please?

GENCON!!

I went to GenCon this weekend and walked for two days. Saturday I had an empty power sprayer strapped to my back and carrying a PVC rivet gun. Sunday I was in street clothes. I'd say that covers my 3 hours of exercise. I'm not even going to try to figure out how long I walked. My feet hurt like nobody's business and I'm sore all over. If that's not an indication of the amount of walking I did, I don't know what is.
